(More customer reviews)This is a great camera that takes gorgeous photos at full zoom and in very low light, and I love it - now - but I have been ready to send it back twice. The two most important pieces of advice I have, neither of which are addressed per se in the manual and may very well make you feel you need to return the camera/give up on it are: Make sure the focus is *not* on "continuous" unless you really want it on that setting for specific shots, and be aware that if you put the LCD display on "battery/energy saver" (this is a different setting from "brightness"), when you look at photos you have taken they will look *awful*, and you will think the camera is unable to come up with a decent shot under any setting. When I first tried to use the zoom, or focus on much of anything, every shot I took was fuzzy - until I took it off continuous focus - and once I did that it's been fine, even at full zoom. I took photos all day yesterday at a botanical garden and museum, and they all looked over-exposed and terrible, wrong colors, etc. when I looked at them in the camera. I was again ready to send it back to Amazon. However - once I downloaded the photos to my computer they looked brilliant. So I took the LCD setting off "saver" - sure enough, all the pictures & video looked great. I'm not a digicam newbie, this is I think my fifth camera in ten years. Nowhere in the manual or in any comments/reviews I've read so far has anyone discussed these two points. I'm not a newbie so I persevered, but someone who is a newbie could easily think this camera can't take a decent photo. I take a lot of photos in museums and other places where I can't use flash or tripods. I am delighted at how the low-light photos I took came out, thanks to the CMOS sensor. No blur, and amazingly little noise. The camera really makes excellent use of available light. Wow. I'm not the world's best macro photographer, but I took some wonderful flower shots yesterday. The panorama feature is very cool, but there is a learning curve and I'm not where I want to be yet. I need more practice. So far I've been quite satisfied with the video I've shot, but I haven't done much yet. In summary - you can't rely on the manual for full info, it seems, and that can be frustrating, but this camera really does take gorgeous photos. I have rated it four stars instead of five because of the two issues. More clarity in the manual could have eliminated a lot of unnecessary frustration.
